हाथियों का दल बम्हनी से निकलकर रात भर महासमुंद नगर के किनारेे इलाकों में जमा रहा है। सुबह होते ही जैसे ही लोग टहलने के लिए निकले और हाथी को देखा तो दहशत में आ गये। कुछ देर बाद ये खबर आग की तरह पूरे नगर में फैल गयी और हाथी देखने के लिए लोगो का सैलाब उमड़ पडा। हाथियों का दल पीएचई कार्यालय से पीछे होते मुक्तिधाम पहुॅचा । उसके बाद एन एच 353 को सितली नाला के पास क्रास करते हुवे पिटियाझर पहुॅच गया जहाॅ खेत में काम कर रही एक वृद्ध महिला को घायल करते हुवे आगे गौरखेडा के जंगलो की ओर चला गया।
आपको बता दे कि 6 सालों से हाथियों का आंतक महासमुंद वनपरिक्षेत्र में बना हुआ है । इस बीच हाथियों ने डेढ़ दर्जन से ज्यादा लोगो को मौत के घाट उतार दिया और दो दर्जन से ज्यादा लोगो को घायल कर चुका है एवं हजारो किसानों का कई एकड़ की फसल बर्बाद कर चुके है । वन अमला व पुलिस के जवान रात से ही हाथियोें को खदडने में जुटा है । वन विभाग ने घायल महिला को आर्थिक मदद के तौर पर एक हजार रूपये देकर आगे की कार्यवाही कर रही है । जहाॅ नगर के नागरिक दहशत में है ,वही वन अमला हाथियों को खदेडने की बात कर रहा है। हाथियो के दल ने दूसरी बार महासमुंद नगर की ओर रूख किया है।
